Dark Fate Question May Have Just Been Answered

Some new information about Terminator: Dark Fate has found its way online. This new intel claims there are going to be some major changes in the franchise moving forward after the death of an iconic character and answers a question fans have been asking for a long time now. So far, the response to the sequel has been a bit lackluster after the first trailer finally dropped. However, fans of the franchise are still hoping Dark Fate will make good on James Cameron’s promise to wipe out the previous sequels. There are potential SPOILERS for Terminator: Dark Fate below, so read ahead at your own risk.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day saw Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the T-800 wipe out Cyberdyne, the company responsible for Skynet. The T-1000 was sent back in time to take out John Connor in the movie and ultimately failed. In Terminator: Dark Fate, there is no Skynet and it reportedly takes place in an alternate timeline after the events of Judgement Day. The new threat is allegedly called Legion, who has sent back a new Terminator to kill John Connor, who is reportedly in the movie, but not for long.

Now that John Connor is out of the picture, Daniella “Dani” Ramos is the new savior and ultimately the new target . Rev-9 is the advanced Terminator prototype, who is played by Gabriel Luna. He is sent back in time to take down Dani. This leads us to a new resistance against Legion, which is unknown at this time. This unidentified resistance sends a cyborg assassin Grace to protect Dani. In other words, it sounds pretty much like the other movies James Cameron did in the franchise.

Fans have been wondering whether or not Terminator: Dark Fate was going to feature John Connor. Apparently he is in the movie, but only for a little while. As for Legion, it is unclear if they are somehow connected to Skynet in some way. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines had a backup of Skynet set up into its storyline, but James Cameron and crew have decided to ditch that idea, even though Legion sounds strangely familiar.

It’s going to be interesting to see the fan response to Terminator: Dark Fate. While the previous sequels in the franchise have been divisive, to say the least, James Cameron and Linda Hamilton have thrown some pretty significant shade in their direction, which puts new pressure on Dark Fate to deliver. Just having the original characters and actors back isn’t going to be enough to bring the franchise back to its glory days. The story is going to have to be better than all of the rest and that is not going to be an easy thing to pull off. Heroic Hollywood was the first to report on the Terminator: Dark Fate story details.
